Chart Iain 6-5-1965 11:15 Glasgow, Scotland

    Baaladi

    Moon 7 Leo Kumara

    Mars 25 Leo Mrita

    Saturn 23 Aquarius Vridda

    Mercury 13 Taurus Yuva

    Jupiter 16 Taurus Yuva

    Sun 21 Taurus Kumara

    Venus 5 Gemini Baaladi

Iain has a general felt sense (Moon) of engagement with life. His moon as an adolescent shows up with his passion and zest for outdoor activity. When he was younger it was to the exclusion of all other things.  Very much like an adolescent. There was never a care for the future or a plan he just focused on his passions. His mother is very adolescent ss well. She has maintained ‘the hubris of youth’ only caring for what she knows, and adamant in her “truths”.

His mars being in the dead state one might think he was mature in his ability to channel this. It is hard to dissect the state since his Mars is in his first house with his moon.  But he likes to argue with people for fun.  He is one of those people that likes to poke people to get them going.  This could be construed as a dead mars. In relation to his brothers, he argues with them a lot and doesn’t like to have much to do with them. They are not very present in his life. You could say dead to him, they just annoy him and he rarely sees them.

Saturn in a Vridda state is Iain who is always cautious and worried the worst thing will happen.  Like old people that spend all their time worrying about getting sick and going to the doctors all the time.

Mercury and Jupiter in Yuva states is Iain who laughs readily, jokes a lot and is very witty.

The Sun in Kumara state would be Iain’s energetic presence always filled with vitality and ready for a project.

Venus as an infant would be his general lack of experience in relationship. He is very innocent and honest in his relationships, lacking any guile.  It is actually one of the things I really love about him.  He has no idea how to not be just who he is in relationships. People call it refreshing.

    Jagraddi

Saturn is awake, Jagrata. One could say Saturn is Iain’s most prominent consciousness.  He worries quite a lot, especially about the state of the world.

The Moon, Mars, Mercury & Venus are in friend’s rashis, Swapna, Dreaming. Iain is quite content in his relationships and activities.  He is very active in the world. His consciousness is dominated by many activities and he is very rajasic, always moving. He is not content to sit still.

Jupiter and the Sun are Susupti, sleeping in enemy signs.  Iain has historically had difficulty dealing with authority and suffered much in relation to his own authority in his youth.  He was very unconscious and showed no desire to be conscious of how to deal with authority in his younger years.

    Deeptadi

Iain’s Moon, Mars, Mercury and Venus are in Great Friend’s rashis, Mudita/delighted.  In his 50’s one could say he is basically very delighted with his life.  Adding Saturn in it’s own rashi being content one experiences a man who is happy doing his own thing and is delighted with how life is.

His Jupiter in the sign of an enemy I think could relate to his lifelong struggle with authority. He is still prickly about it, one could say he has a grudge but is finding his way finally.

Jupiter and Mercury are yuti the Sun, getting burnt causing distress. His feelings being purified by the Sun creates someone who has to learn how to communicate, it has been a theme, and someone that has to learn how to be generous of spirit. Both of these feeling states are areas he has to work on. And the moon is yuti mars, although mars is a temporal benefic, it still has given him an aggressive nature most of his life.

    Lajittadi

Jupiter is Kshobhit, shaken and agitated and Kshudita, hungy. As described earlier Jupiter has been in difficult dignity for Iain. He has been able to transform his relationship with his father and authorities over time but it still isn’t easy feelings.  There is a lot of responsibility now and work.

Saturn is in its own sign and aspected by the Moon, Mudita, delighted.  While one couldn’t really use delighted with Saturn, one can say Iain has grown into taking his responsibilities very seriously and he delights in them.

I have been researching different people’s avasthas to get a handle on the practical application. I don’t have a program that runs these but it was easy enough to use the handouts and compile the data. I did myself, my husbands (above), my sons, my mother, Paul Newman, Jeff Bezos and Vivekananda.

I was a bit depressed after looking at my families data. I felt a bit better after looking at Swami Vivekananda’s Jagraad adi avassthas and seeing Swapna except one Jagrata 😉 He also had Putra Bhava Lajittadi & kshudita

Jeff Bezos has 3 Swapna, 3 Jagrata, Putra, Mudita, Kshudita and Kshobit.  So all is not lost LOL

Paul Newman has 2 Susupti, 2 Swapna, 3 jagrata. He also has a proud Saturn, and Kshudita

I find this fascinating and will continue to research various people this weekend.  I find it more relevant to look at people I know and my clients to try to really see how this plays out.

In all cases there was a mix of Deeptadi Avasthas.

I wanted to add to the above for Iain as I continue to research avasthas this weekend.  I failed to mention Iain is in a Rahu Mercury dasa. His Mercury has Mudita being with Jupiter and Kshobhitta being with Rahu. His Rahu is direct in his 10th house.  He is doing incredibly well in his work life and making more money than he has historically.

His moon is yuti mars (Kshudita) During the years of his moon dasa he did have financial difficulties, physical decline in strength, and trouble with relatives.

Mercury owns his 11th and 2nd houses. I would say as a sub cycle to his Rahu main period Rahu being in such a powerful position is dominating the energies of his life.  He has risen to the top of his field.  Even here in a tertiary cycle of the moon he is still risen in reputation (11). His relatives have not been up as an issue, nor has he lost physical vitality.

As usual the mix of things in a chart it is never cut and dried.  But I am seeing some results from studying the avasthas.

I looked at David Bowie’s avastha’s and it looked miserable.  I think with more exposure and seeing how it really  manifests for people it will be easier to apply.

    Baladhi Avastha (maturity)

My Moon, my Atmakaraka, is Mrita, Dead, and I have always felt like an Old Soul.  Also, I am both very interested in how I feel, and unconcerned at the same time, as if it’s a comfortable energy that’s just there.

My Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn are Viddha, Old.  Jupiter and Saturn don’t surprise me as I’ve always felt at ease with both energies, even if they’re oppositional.  But, it does surprise me that my Jupiter is both Viddha and Distressed (see below).  Maybe it’s maturity helps lessen the Distress.  I am also surprised to see my Mars here,  as I think of it as a younger energy that I’m working out harder Karmic lessons with — along with my Mercury and Venus, both of which are Yuva, Young Adult, for me.

Lastly, my Sun, Rahu, and, Ketu are all Kumaara, Child Avastha.  My Nodes definitely feel like brand new territory to me (and I’m currently in Ketu Dasa).  My Sun is interesting.  As an Aquarius Ascendant who prefers solitude, I definitely resonate with a younger, more diffuse solar power.

Jagradadi Avastha (alertness based on natural rulerships)

Only my Sun, Mulatrikona in Leo, is Jaagrita (Awake).  My Sun is also in Magha Nakshatra and I contemplate and meditate on the more universal and spiritual meaning of the Sun a lot.  Maybe that explains why it’s my one Awake planet.

Most of my planets are Swapna (Dreaming; my Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, and Ketu).  Swapna means that they are half-awake, comfortable, with friends, and generally, not too challenged.  Although I am naturally a peaceful and disciplined person, I am surprised to have Mars and Ketu here.  Even though I have Ketu debilitated in my 4th House, perhaps I really should trust that I can relax even more!

Deeptadi (feelings based on the dignities of the planets)

Five of my planets are Khala (Mischievous, Scheming) — my Sun, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, and Rahu.  This doesn’t look good, but I think it’s a technical classification only.  My Sun may be in Leo, but it’s also poorly placed in my 7th House and combusts both Mars and Mercury.  My Rahu is debilitated in my 10th House and much more uncomfortable in a public house of pressure than my Ketu (so I understand why my Ketu is Saanta, Peaceful).

Three planets are Deena (Depressed) — my Moon, Mercury, and Venus.  I introvert their energies.

My Jupiter and Rahu are Kahudita (Distressed).  Rahu, I just discussed.  My Jupiter is both Retrograde and in an enemy sign (my Ascendant, Aquarius).  Yet, I’ve always felt quite good with my Jupiter energy and transits.  Jupiter also aspects Saturn, the Sun, and the Moin in my chart and I have a strong 9th House of Dharma, so maybe my Jupiter energy doesn’t feel as off coarse to me as my Rahu or my Mars energies.

    Lajitadi (Aspects)

My Venus, in Cancer, is Trishita (Thirsty).  It is also in my 6th House.  Yet, I’m quite comfortable with the food life and I really enjoy art and beauty.  Unde the right circumstances, I’m also OK with hard work.  My Venus is Parivartana with my Moon — perhaps that helps.

My Sun is Garvitha (Proud) and Swastha (Comfortable).  I suppose — as long as I’m meditating on the higher spiritual nature of the Sun.

My Saturn is Mudita (Happy).  Saturn is my Ascendant ruler, it is in my 5th House of creativity and children.  And I love the irony of a happy Saturn.

Planet – Baladi, Jagradadi, Deeptadi, Lajitadi

Sun – Infant, Dreaming, Peaceful, Delighted
Mercury – Adolescent, Dreaming, Delighted, Delighted
Jupiter – Adolescent, Sleeping, Depressed, Delighted

My Sun, Mercury and Jupiter, my ascendant lord, are the primary energies that I have desired to mature and awaken since childhood shown by the Baladi and Jagradadi Avasthas. Jupiter, up until recent years, has been the one that felt lacking which can be seen by the Depressed or Din Deeptadi Avastha due to its being in a neutral sign. They have been a source of joy and strength and been key to overcoming obstacles on my journey shown by their Delighted Lajitadi Avastha. The Delighted Lajitadi Avastha is due to both Mercury and the Sun being in friendly signs and all three planets are joined in the same Nakshatra of Mrigashira forming at least three notable yogas.

Mars – Youth, Awake, Content, Shy and Delighted
Venus – Old, Dreaming, Distressed, Shy and Hungry
Moon – Youth, Awake, Content, Hungry and Thirsty
Saturn – Adolescent, Sleeping, Scheming, Hungry, Thirsty and Delighted

Mars and the Moon are in their own signs and, for me, have been powerful and awakened energies. Mars’ shy and delighted Lajitadi Avasthas are due to its joining with Venus in the 5th house and the direct aspect from my Moon and Saturn conjunction. Moon’s hungry and thirsty Lajitadi Avastha is due to its being in a watery sign, joined with Saturn and the direct aspect from Mars. Venus’ energy, once awakened, started advancing quickly showing both the Old Baladi and Dreaming Jagradadi Avasthas. The Shy and Hungry Lajitadi Avasthas of Venus are due to its joining with Mars in the 5th house and receiving a direct aspect from the Moon and Saturn conjunction. Saturn energy has been another area where maturing and awakening has been needed. The Scheming Deeptadi Avastha of Saturn is due to it being in Cancer as it is a great enemy sign for it and a tendency for me to plan or scheme to avoid problems is shown by this. Saturn’s Hungry, Thirsty and Delighted Lajitadi Avasthas are due to it being in a watery sign and receiving a direct aspect from the Mars and Venus conjunction.

Rahu – Infant, Awake, Content, Delighted
Ketu – Infant, Awake, Content, Thirsty

Both Rahu and Ketu are energies that have needed maturing and, according to some texts, are in their own signs. Rahu is in Virgo and Ketu in Pisces which cause both to have the Awake Jagradadi and Content Deeptadi Avasthas. What Rahu influences has been areas of growth and success overall showing the Delighted Lajitadi Avastha. The areas Ketu influences have been more problematic as shown by the Thirsty Lajitadi Avastha but it has been evolving quickly due its Awake Jagradadi Avastha.
