1. What are the Nodes astronomically. What happens when the Nodes appear? (short answer)

The nodes are points in space where the orbits of the Sun, Moon and Earth line up in 3 dimensional space. They create the shadows that we see during an eclipse.

2. How does the astronomy of the Nodes indicate their effect astrologically? (no more than 3 sentences)

Their shadowy nature creates confusion and delusion in the area of life indicated by the planet.

3. How are the Nodes related to “the Army”? Which one is the advancing Army and why? Which one is the occupying Army and why? (no more than 3 sentences)

Rahu is the advancing army. He is an outwardly moving graha. He is progressive and future looking. He moves forward and doesn’t look back. Ketu is the occupying army. He represents the past and all we have done. It is the part of us which may be stuck in the past and critical, but that which also possesses the skills of life / soul lessons learned.

4. How is Rahu like the “immature child”? (no more than 3 sentences)

He is worldly and wants everything. He will do anything to get it, just like a child. It is where the soul is gathering life lessons and is immature.

5. How is Ketu like the “disapproving parent”? (no more than 3 sentences)

Ketu is a very critical voice in our head, referring to past expertise and unrealistic standards. It refers to the hard lessons of our childhood that we needed expertise to navigate.

6. In Mitt Romney’s Chart, why does Ketu have an influence on personal desires, siblings, and / or competitors? (no more than 3 sentences)

Ketu is conjunct the Moon which is the 3rd lord, the significator for personal desires and Jupiter, the 11th lord, the significator of public desires. Ketu is also in the 7th house (desire with others)

7. In Mitt Romney’s Chart, why does Ketu have an influence on Public life, ambition and service? (no more than 3 sentences)

Ketu is conjunct Jupiter the ruler of the 11th (ambition, service).

Rahu is conjunct Mars, the 4th and 11th lord, affecting home life, happiness, mother, education, ambitions and large goals, service to humanity, friends, income from career and awards and achievement. Rahu is also having an effect on the 8th house since that is the house where it is placed. This gives him the desire to solve mysteries, do research and understand things on a deep level. He could like psychology. Mars as the planet of competition and action is amped up giving him the desire to compete and to keep moving forward.

Ketu is conjunct Sun and Mercury in the 11th house. Mercury representing intellect and communication is affected. Also the Sun, representing power and father are affected. Ketu also affects the 2nd house of family, speech, diet, education, resources and values (Sun rules Leo); the 3rd house of siblings, personal desires, skills and interests and also the 12th house of sex, sleep, expenditures, charity, and connection to foreign lands. (Mercury rules the 3rd and 12 houses).
