Hi Daniel,
Thank you for your query:
You wrote: ” The biggest trouble I’ve had in putting together the reading [Hwk 4] was the interpretation of Rahu and Ketu, especially when they are not with any planets. So Rahu is in Virgo in the 5th House (all by itself) and it’s ruler Mercury is in Aries conjunct Venus in the 12th house. Will Rahu act like its ruler Mercury in the sense that it will act like it is 12th House Mercury in Aries but in the 5th house? It would therefore bring 12th house themes in the 5th house. Or will it act like its ruler Mercury only in the sense that Mercury is expressing itself in Aries way and is being influenced by Venus (no house influence). My question is very precise. When we say that nodes are supposed to act like their rulers, do we mean they bring the meaning of the house of their ruler in the house where they are themselves? Or do they only bring the sign energy and the conjunction/aspect energy of their ruler in the house they are in?”
Daniel I’m going to give the Nodes Reading Template from Sadasiva’s course “Nodes Course 2019” for clarification. I hope it helps clear any confusion. Here we go:
RAHU
(if joined a planet)
- Rahu is joined the (x) house ruler, which shows there will be a strong hypnotic focus in the area(s) of life related to (qualities of those houses).
- That ruler is (planet) which shows (qualities of that planet) will be how they develop and focus their energy in that domain of life.
(if not joined a planet)
- Rahu is in the (house number) house, which shows the main attachments and areas of life this person is trying to develop in order for their soul to evolve are about (qualities of that house).
- Rahu is in the sign of (sign), which shows the main mental and emotional energy this person is trying to develop in order for their soul to evolve are (sign traits).
- Rahu’s ruler is in (Ruler’s sign), which shows Rahu will behave as if he is (ruler in sign) as he spreads his smoke and his attachment.
KETU
(if joined a planet)
- Ketu is joined the (x) house ruler, which shows there will be a strong internal focus and withdrawal in the area(s) of life related to (qualities of the houses).
- That ruler is (planet) which shows (qualities of that planet) will be how they internally focus their energy in that domain of life.
(if not joined a planet)
- Ketu is in the (house number) house, which shows the main areas of detachment and dispassion in this person’s life. These are generally areas of neglect as having been recently developed in past lives. There may be some overlooked skill and mastery, yet very little energy put forth to develop (qualities of that house).
- Ketu is in sign of (sign), which shows they will likely have mental and emotional skill operating in a (sign traits) way.
- Ketu’s ruler is in (Ruler’s sign), which shows Ketu will behave as if he is (ruler in sign) as he inhales the smoke and attachment of Rahu.
I hope that this helps Daniel.
