Saturn
Will Move Forward on May 17
Saturn will begin moving forward
on May 17, this Sunday, and will continue
forward for approximately 7 months.. Saturn has
been retrograde (appearing to move backwards)
since Christmas Day in 2008 - remember
2008?
When Saturn goes retrograde, it feels as though
many of our long-term plans slowdown. It is a
time to adjust, readjust and recalculate our
strategy. However, we must realize that Saturn
is retrograde almost half the time. In many
ways, our time and life here on Earth is a
process of actions, reflections and
adjustments. Most of the time Saturn is moving
forward, (approximately 7 months) - but the
other five months he moves backwards.
So much "to do" is made about Mercury
retrograde, that we hardly ever speak about
Saturn retrograde.
Saturn is the planet of time. Time is the great
container of all worldly experiences. Managing
time, and dealing with the limitations time
places on us as has a lot to do with our life
and how much we get out of it.
Wisdom of the Rg Veda
There's an amazing verse in the Rg Veda that
discusses time. In many ways, the Rg Vedc is a
big astrology book.
Rg Veda - Hymn I.164.
"Seven yoke the chariot that has a single wheel
(chakra). One horse that has
seven names carries it. The wheel has three
naves, is undecaying and never
overcome, where all these beings are
placed."
The "Seven" are the planets, which are
extensions of the Sun (we only see the planets
because they reflect the Sun's light). The Sun
is the one horse with seven names. Although
this wheel is turning, it is undecaying
(everything else decays). We are placed on this
turning wheel, this wheel of Time. Our physical
body and physical surroundings decay, but time
itself does not. In fact, we ourselves - beyond
form - are timeless.
*if you are interested in hearing more about
the Cosmology of the Vedas and Astrology,

May the Force Be With You
Saturn is the force that makes us aware of time
and its patient progression. When we identify
ourselves as an entity of form, there is fear
and stress. When we identify ourselves as an
entity beyond time, there is freedom. This is
the essence of Saturn -- the essence of
time.
Once we enter the wheel of Time, we must face
the complex of loss, endings and facing our
limitations. We only have so much intelligence,
energy, power, confidence - etc. - in time,
through form. But in Truth - we are not tainted
by time and it's effect on our form. We are
ever stainless and undecaying.
The nature of Saturn in you is the part that
feels the pain and suffering of limitation and
the complexes that pain and limitation create
in your mind. Because in truth we are an
unlimited being, facing our limitations in form
is very painful. Facing our fear of time and
its inevitable outcome raises the internal
pressure, which forces us to make a commitment
to something. In one sense we can say Saturn
forces us to commit to either body, mind or
soul.
When we commit to BODY often there is a
fear-based materialism that overcomes the
person. As if to say "as long as I have enough
stuff, I'm safe". This makes us cling, worry
and put too much pressure on money.
When we commit to MIND it as if to say "as long
as I'm happy, I'm safe". This makes us cling,
worry and put too much pressure on
relationships and other people.
When we commit to SOUL it's as if to say "not
until I'm free, am I safe". This makes us
cling, worry and put too much pressure on Truth
or God (However you define the higher
intelligence and power beyond your control)
In this way, Saturn teaches us to live simply
and move beyond our attachment to a phony sense
of security that comes from excessive
materialism. When a person is excessively
materialistic, Saturn's influence hurts them
deeply. It is the nature of Saturn to shatter
our illusions around fear and make us grow up.
Saturn makes us mature. His influence exerts
physical and psychological pressure that we
cannot ignore. Based on this pressure we deepen
our commitment to something, body, mind or
soul.
So, Now what,...
Back to Saturn retrograde. Since Christmas of
last year Saturn has been moving backwards --
we have been reflecting upon our fears,
challenged to keep our commitments, have had
certain illusions shattered and have needed to
respond accordingly. Many of our long-term
plans at that time have shifted. At the very
least, our tactics have shifted.. Those who
have a healthy Saturn in their natal chart will
have responded appropriately and deepened their
commitment to truth. Those of us who have
important planets around the end of Sidereal
Leo, which includes the rising sign, the moon
or actually any planet there -- will have felt
that life lesson pressured quite a lot the last
several months.
Here are few recognizable traits of a person
with a powerful Saturn:
* The willingness to let go of things when they
are done.
* The willingness to commit to a course of
action and stay on it even when it becomes
unpleasant internally or difficult
externally.
* A high capacity and need for a healthy level
of solitude.
* Gratitude for what uou have and the ability
to live simply.
So, ask yourself these questions:
- Am I hanging on to something out of fear,
that I need to let go of?
- Are the things I'm committed to, an
expression of body, mind or soul?
- What terrifies me the most and what am I the
most afraid of losing?
- Am I holding myself back because of the fear
of disappointment and failure?
- Am I willing to commit and make the necessary
sacrifices to manifest my heart's desire, or am
I a victim?
- Do i have realistic boundaries and
expectations of others.
Saturn can make us a master of time, but we
must be willing to let go of our fears and our
childishness.
We have entered the wheel of Time. We have
karma with the body and the world of form -
which will be destroyed by time itself.
So, now what?
