Spiritual
Assessment
In this assessment
I'll be looking primarily at
the three self factors and
what condition them toward a
spiritual path.
The three self factors
are:
The lagna lord (shows our basic
self-_expression and path in
life)
The First House
Atma karaka (literally " soul
indicator")
The Sun (The natural Atma
karaka)
The Same Factors in the Navamsa
Chart
Dear XXX,
The ruling planet,
Mercury is in its own sign,
Gemini with the ninth lord,
Venus and Mars. This powerful
ruling planet, joined the
ninth lord will be the
mindset for philosophies and
teachings, religion, etc. in
the sign of Gemini this will
make you test all of your
beliefs, putting them to the
test not just excepting them
blindly. Mercury rules the
buddhi, the intellect and
it's important for you to
rationally understand the
spiritual practices, why they
work, etc. this makes you
gravitate naturally toward
the path of jnana Yoga, the
Yoga of the intellect.
However the presence of Mars
also strongly indicates a
passion for a more physical
path, related to Raja Yoga.
Especially as this sign of
Gemini Falls in the 10th
house of action. Thus there
are many aspirations to
impact the world through
these multifarious paths of
Yoga and other modalities
like astrology. The aspect
from Jupiter, as well as both
of these planets being in
their own signs, and forming
a powerful Saraswati Yoga,
shows the interest and desire
to help others through
Astrology and other Vedic
teachings. Guru in your
fourth house, retrograde
shows and ease of
introspection, and a desire
to merge with guru in your
own heart. You can feel the
presence of guru deep within
your heart -- very nice!
The Sun is a double atma karaka for
you and thus very powerful in your
liberation. The Sun is in your
ninth house with saturn and the
Moon. Very powerful conjunction of
spiritualizing factors. Particular
the Sun and Moon are tightly
conjoined in the nakshatra of
Mrigashira, Mercury is also
Mrigashira -- declaring this
nakshatra of prime importance, as
it rules your three main
spiritualizing factors. Mrigashira
is related to the quest for idyllic
beauty and brings a certain
restless nature to that quest.
There is also an innocence and
naïveté, and courage in spite of
what our more experienced nature
may be telling us. This naïveté an
innocence gets us and our soul
through life's ups and downs,
rather than becoming embittered by
our disappointments. I mention the
specifically because of the
presence of Saturn in this ninth
house, and especially tightly
conjoined the Moon, the dark Moon.
Particularly as Saturn is the sixth
lord, it reveals the work and
effort necessary to maintain
self-confidence and a healthy
mental/emotional outlook from
day-to-day. Yet Saturn / Sun also
makes one a great servant of
humanity, especially as Saturn is
the sixth lord. In the sign of
Taurus there will be a powerful
need to serve in tangible ways,
with your physical body in real
time, not just in your mind as may
be the case with all those planets
in Gemini.
In the navamsa chart, Mars is in a
trinal aspect with your atma
karaka, the Sun, who is in Virgo.
This shows the ability to thrive
and excel in Raja yoga or other
physical disciplines like tai chi
-- or energetic paths like Reiki.
Staying disciplined and managing
Mars energy, which includes anger
and excessive opinions will be
important to your spiritual path.
The above suggestions are ways to
channel Mars energy creatively.
This atma karaka and Mars both in
earth signs shows that staying
grounded in tangible, worldly
activities is the path to this
management. Things like gardening,
massage, cooking and feeding
people, hands-on earthy things are
also important. The atma karaka is
aspected by Saturn as well, who is
the lagna lord and 12th lord in
this navamsa chart, and resides in
the sign of Gemini. This shows the
confluence and similarity to the
rasi chart, affirming the
importance of discrimination and in
jnana Yoga to your life path, as
well as the capacity to flourish
through them.
To summarize: There are tendencies
for the Yoga of synthesis in your
chart, which include Karma Yoga,
Raja Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, jnana Yoga.
Breathing exercises could be
especially important as they are
related to Gemini, and air sign,
and its lord Mercury. Also Saturn
is related to the breath and his
influence over the Sun and Moon
could be inhibiting. Swami
Sivananda and Swami Satchitanda of
integral Yoga are two very
interesting paths you may explore.
Both advocate the idea of combining
the four paths of Yoga everyday. Of
course this is also discussed in
the Bhagavad Gita by Lord Krishna,
yet these great yogis created great
systems through which to guide our
daily life based on the same
principles.
Saying mantras to your beloved
deities, whether they be figures or
forces such as the planets or even
affirmations that you create will
be very important as the sign of
Gemini is related to speech and
self-_expression through words.
ponder this.
