Indian Astrology or Hindu astrology is undergoing an amazing renaissance now. Not only in India, but also here in the West, new discoveries are being made and much research is being done into the ancient science of light. In fact, one could say that Western, Indian or Hindu astrology is just as alive and vibrant as the Indian astrology coming from the mother land.

Indian astrology is also called Vedic astrology because it originated in the Vedas. There's a section in the Krishna Yajur Veda called the Vedanga Jyotisha, which is the earliest formal Indian astrology document. This document discusses the Nakshatras, the distant stars used in Hindu astrology.

Indian astrology is deeply connected to the culture of yoga and Ayurveda, the traditional medical system of India. Unlike in the West, where astrology is looked down upon as something weird or unscientific, Indian astrology, as practiced in India, is very respected. Hindu astrologers are referred to as "Pandits" and known to be trusted advisors - oracles - giving voice to the divine intentions of the universe.

In fact, astrology is a glorious science. It interprets the spiritual energy taking form here on Earth. Each of the Vedic sciences, in one way or another, interpret this spiritual energy. In the east it is understood that we are all spiritual beings first, then we can incarnate with the body and the psychology in order to evolve toward perfection. All suffering is simply an expression of limitation. The deeper spiritual lessons of life are shown by the planets, astrology signs and astrology houses. In many ways, there is nothing that cannot be known through astrology if one is interested in finding the answer.
