Forgetting the Bigger Picture – Mired in the Details

Mercury Exalted – Jupiter, Mars and Venus Debilitated

We have quite a lot of planets either debilitated or getting closer to debilitation right now. Both Mars and Jupiter are already debilitated and Venus and the sun are not far away. When a planet is debilitated it does not express its highest nature very easily. In fact, the thing that it rules in our consciousness becomes compromised and hard to fathom.

Jupiter Debilitated
Jupiter is the energy that feels like hope and inspiration. These are the things that get us through in life when we have setbacks. We have our teachings, teachers and philosophies to fall back on. These things allow us to remember the bigger picture, otherwise we get tangled up in all of the material setbacks of the world and get lost in the details. Jupiter has been debilitated for much of this year, and still is. So it is harder for us to remember our teachings and we have lost some hope.

Mars Debilitated
Mars is a planet of discipline that allows us to put into practice the things we believe in, not just talk about them or acknowledge them mentally. Mars gives us the toughness and discipline to sacrifice our happiness in the moment in order to do the right thing. When Mars is weak, rather than doing the right thing, we tend to argue with others over what the right thing is.

When Mars becomes debilitated, we become undisciplined. Rather than our actions being based on what we know is right for us in the long term (Capricorn), they become based on how we feel in the moment (Cancer). This leaves us feeling weak and overcome by emotions, rather than feeling tough and strong – which is the part of us that Mars is activating. Mars will be debilitated between now May 25, 2010. That’s a long time to have Mars weak.

This is a Good Time to Get A Quick 45 Minute Reading

Venus Debilitated
Venus is the energy within us that brings about happiness in life. We all want to enjoy life. That nature comes from Venus. When Venus is weak we simply don’t enjoy things as much. We don’t appreciate them as much, and we don’t feel as appreciated ourselves. That’s often the most difficult thing to swallow when Venus is weak.

Be careful in your relationships especially now, with not feeling appreciated. There may be a high sensitivity to that, especially with Venus joined Saturn, compounding this lack of appreciation with a lack of confidence. In fact, this tendency may only increase as the Sun also becomes debilitated on October 17.

Mercury to the Rescue
However, in general, the stellium of planets in Virgo (Mercury, Venus and Saturn) are being strongly supported by an exalted Mercury, the ruler of the sign. And in fact, these three friendly planets make for a very powerful Raja Yoga. So, even though we may not be feeling so good, this is a great time to get a lot of work done – especially detail oriented, artistic, technical type of work.

Between now and November 2 is a great time to deepen your commitment to your creative projects and bring them to fruition. If you’ve been kicking around ideas that have to do with writing projects, online publishing, starting a blog, revamping / rebranding your business, etc. – you won’t find a better time to do it for quite a while.

We can sit around feeling disrespected and without hope or we can jump into the creative power of the time. Between now and November 2 that means working on something that we’re passionate about, that we believe in. Make a commitment to bringing some sort of beauty into the world.

There will be a lot of assistance with Mercury exalted, or in an exchange with Venus, between now and November 2.

Full Moon in Pisces – Debilitated Mars

I discuss the Full Moon in Pisces – Mars approaching debility and other things related to the New Paradigm.

* The first three minutes or so, is me having a little fun. I turn the camera on early so i do not forget later.

The new Moon in Virgo has us worrying over the details, overwhelmed and maybe losing the bigger picture in the process. I have felt this myself lately with several very large writing projects where  I have to be “precise ” with word counts, no typos, etc. Then i send out my newsletters and there are typos and things.. and people getting cranky with me about it..

Sorry about the typos, i will try to do better. Last week i had to write 13 articles, edited correctly, this week a similar amount.. I will share with you “why” very soon.

I discussed this attention to detail last week when i discussed the huge shift that just happened with Saturn entering Virgo.

Saturn in Virgo

Saturn will be in Virgo for 2.5 years (approximately) starting September 9, 2009. The shift of Saturn from Leo to Virgo can be seen as the transition of power (Leo) to implementation (Virgo). Meaning, Saturn in Virgo saw a shifting of power both internally and externally – and not necessarily in a good way.

This is a free astrology horoscope about Saturn in Virgo

The false forms of power have been exposed and we must make a commitment to the true source of power, or feel the pain of that. Virgo is where we must assemble the new paradigm from the shards of the old. The future is now and we are creating. This requires focusing our attention on all of the details, each day, each person, each meal, each dollar.. they all matter and have broad ranging implications. We can be overwhelmed by this or be flexible and present and do our best, knowing that God’s grace is always guiding us (integrating the opposite energy of Pisces).

Mars in Gemini – Foot in Mouth Disease

The recent case of “foot in mouth disease” caught by celebrities like Serena Williams and Kanye West is definitely attributed to the current transit of Mars through Gemini – and most specifically in the Nakshatra of Ardra.

Mars is the warrior – trying to destroy weakness. Our capacity to endure external pressure is directly related to our capacity to handle the inner pressure. Mars may strengthen us emotionally, by finding the source of our emotional weakness, rather than needing to prove another wrong by shallow displays of bravado and aggression. This is the process of Mars, to strengthen us in mind, body and soul – eventually.

Mars is the energy of suffering for our principles. When strong we are willing to suffer for our principles, by getting up early for our meditations, eating the right food (not just the best tasting) and in general “walking the walk” (not just talking the talk).

When Mars is not powerful we make OTHERS suffer for our principles. We tell them what they did wrong, we argue, we try to prove ourselves. Underneath it all, Mars is the part of us who is trying to defend what is “right”. This, of course, is defined by our principles.

The reason Mars in Gemini is difficult is because Gemini is a sign of language, communication, flexibility and trying to accommodate all views. In a sense, Gemini does not operate from a sense of “right and wrong”. This is the big struggle for Mars (and Gemini) with this placement.

Mars is our vitality in the moment. That moment, when we need to act, according to either our principles (dharma) or what feels good to us (kama). Gemini is not a clear and decisive sign. It is a sign where we are wondering if maybe something else is better. Mars likes clarity and precision, yet Gemini is saying “but maybe this is better,.. ever think of that?”

With that in mind think of Kanye West, jumping up on stage and grabbing the mic away from another who has just won. To him, obviously he thought someone else should have won (“Should” is a big “Mars” word). Serena Williams curses and threatens a line judge on match point in a semifinal match Saturday night. Both were rampaging over an injustice (in their mind) and felt justified in the moment.

Both of these incidents also happened with the Moon very close to Mars in the Sky.The Moon was also in Gemini over the weekend.

Last week a Congressman yells out “You lie” to the president in the middle of a speech, another unprecedented “Mars in Gemini/Ardra ” moment.

The Nakshatra of Ardra is also especially prominent here as it is ruled by Lord Siva, the transformer. This Nakshatra is motivated to protect the sacred teachings and the righteous. Mythologically it is where Lord Brahma himself is shot and Killed over defiling sacrosanct teachings (at least according to the Demi-Gods) Ardra is also symbolized by a flood of often regretful tears, after a mistake is made with this intense energy.

Notice all of the “Mea Culpas” following ill-advised outbursts.

I am being careful.

I have a video that shows these things astrologically, using the charts of a few mentioned above

Suggestions:

1. Slow down if you are angry and do not speak at that moment – wait.
2. Excercise. Mars needs action.
3. Be carefuil of “Should and Shouldn’ts” (“she should have won”, “you should not have called that ball out”)

4. Watch the stimulants (caffeine, etc.)

Best Wishes,
Sam (Sadasiva)

August 5 Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn

The lunar eclipse occurs halfway through the solar cycle where the nodal axis rests. Since last May the nodal axis has been in Cancer/Capricorn.

A couple of weeks ago we had a very powerful solar eclipse in cancer. This eclipse is compelling us to concentrate on issues related to trusting our feelings and intuition. It throws down a very important and complicated challenge to us all. We must examine the difference between our emotions and our deeper, intuitive wisdom. It’s very confusing area of life that many people have a hard time even recognizing, let alone examining.

Our feelings feel like our feelings, what’s the difference between “emotions”, “intuition” – it all feels the same. Well, they’re not only different, they’re completely opposite. Our intuition is the source of our wisdom as a being – and the wisdom of all beings. Our emotions take us totally away from that wisdom. Intuition is calm and peaceful – like the surface of a lake with no waves. The emotions are extreme. Wave after wave. When we look at the surface of a lake with no waves, we can see all the way to the bottom. It is clear. But drop just one pebble into the water and it creates enough ways obscure our vision. We can’t see to the bottom anymore. The same thing is true with our mind. The waves of emotion obscure our true nature.

Yet many times we say “I’m so intuitive” or “I’m just going to trust my intuition here” and we make terrible mistakes. We were not trusting our intuition – we were trusting our emotions. The emotions are based on our fears – our desires – they are very biased toward what we want and certain buttons that are pushed based on our past conditioning, habits and routines – what is familiar, what we’re comfortable with – not necessarily what is good for us. That’s why if we had a difficult past, we will gravitate toward difficult experiences in the future.

When we are deciding what to do, we will tell ourselves that we’re following our “intuition”. But it usually is not our intuition, unless we’ve calmed our mind in some way. This process and connection to our emotional life originates from the moon and is expressed through the sign of cancer, where we have this current solar eclipse cycle.

Ok, back to astrology.

We need to make a long-term plan in life, (Capricorn) but to implement those plans we will need to master a series of moments. Everything in life happens now, regardless of our plans. Once that moment arrives we may or may not feel like following through with what we decided earlier. If we don’t feel like following through, we simply won’t do it. It’s very easy for our ego to tell ourselves “I don’t feel like it now” and that is good enough.

Examining this process of how our feelings in the moment undermine our plans, has a lot to do with this eclipse. For instance, you get a gym membership or you tell yourself you want to take better care of your health, eating habits, etc. You make a long term plan (Capricorn). You go to the gym a few times, and then you never go again. Why? — because you don’t feel like it. It’s outside your comfort zone (cancer) and you lack the discipline (Mars) to follow through.

This lunar eclipse in Capricorn is a time to psychologically examine these long-term plans and how unfulfilled you feel around them. The full moon is always the balancing point for the new moon cycle, We get the chance to implement a lesson in each new moon cycle (Cancer this month), and we become psychologically aware of the opposite on the full moon (Capricorn now).

Two weeks ago when I discuss the solar eclipse in cancer, I knew it was confusing for many, and it still probably is. But I wonder if now that the full moon is in Capricorn, the balancing point of cancer, the message is not more clear now.

We tend to base all of our decisions on how we feel in the moment, not on what is best for the situation. This is the difficulty of cancer and this powerful solar eclipse is an opportunity to make an adjustment. We can actually base our decisions on what is correct and appropriate for the goals we have. Enlightened masters do this. One moment arrives and they spontaneously know what to do. Whether they “like it or not”, is not an issue. Such as, our physical fitness needs, our dietary needs (a huge one) and other goals and plans we have that simply disappear because in the moment “I don’t feel like it now”.

This eclipse is joined Jupiter, retrograde and very powerful. Even though Jupiter is debilitated in Capricorn. It is very close to the Earth (retrograde) and therefore neecha banga. A planet in this situation becomes a powerful internal, psycho-spiritual influence. The nature of Jupiter – teachers and gurus – can buttress your capacity be determined and stick to your goals and gain remarkable insight into the process I’m talking about.

In general, we all need to be pushed out of our comfort zone now. The world has changed, and it’s going to continue to change. The biggest reason we find ourselves in this mess globally is due to this issue. Everyone is scared about what’s coming next, for no reason. The main reason they’re scared is because they are afraid of getting shaken out of their comfort zone. We’ll guess what folks, we don’t have much choice anymore, the game has changed – the comfort zone is going to shift – from the material to the spiritual – AND THANK GOD FOR THAT!

This eclipse cycle in Cancer is a great and necessary opportunity to become more mature (Capricorn) around life decisions.

This full moon in Capricorn is providing a creative, balancing point – a determined, practical psychological awakening. Buttressed by a very powerful Jupiter, there are many blessings in store for those willing to step out of their comfort zone and do what is best for their souls awakening.

Moon in Scorpio Through Saturday

Scorpio Moon. Fixed Water. Concentrated feeling. Stabilizing feeling. This is never achieved by controlling or physical activity. It is only done by sinking and surrendering to the water.

We will only exhaust ourselves and others trying to be stable in the deep water.

We are in over our head here.

Will you drown in an ocean of love or an ocean of pain?

Either way, you will drown.

Life is like stepping into a boat that is about to set sail and sink – with you in it.

Scorpio is the sign where we are painfully aware of this and it hurts emotionally.

We cannot take this personally or seriously.

The Self will never die as it was never born.

It is causeless.

Eternal.

Persevere with sensitivity, courage and trust – like a child trusts his mother – to the heart of this fear and you will be reborn into the deathless Self.

Calming the restless waters of emotional pain and fear is the important work of Scorpio in you.

Forgive everyone. They are scared shitless, just like you.

Then, move on to the real work.

YourSelf.

There is no other choice.

We all must do this.

“Just as we change clothes at the end of each day and puts on new ones at the beginning of the next.. so too the imperishable soul changes bodies at the end of each lifetime and assumes a new form at the beginning of the next.”

~ Bhagavad Gita

Venus in Gemini – Five Questions to Ask Yourself

Are You ready to Be Pushed Beyond Your Comfort Zone?

________________________

Venus has just entered Gemini. This is a good thing.

Venus is the force in life that make things enjoyable. Venus gives us appreciation of beauty in the natural world, in each other and in life itself. We want to feel captivated by the beauty of life, and when we don’t feel connected to beauty, we suffer.

Enjoying this beauty is a tricky thing because of one simple, yet profound concept: possessiveness.

Because we forget who the real owner is of everything here, the limited Self tries to possess something beautiful for itself – then the trouble starts. On a deeper soul level, this entire creation is ours and in fact is us. But on that soul level there is no possession, just sharing and an inner appreciation that turns to love (for our beloved) and devotion (to all of creation). Once we feel this love and devotion we willingly compromise our individual/ego desires in order to please the object of our appreciation and love.

This miraculous transformation of our selfish drives to our deeper, unselfish nature is driven by Venus. The engine of that transformation is the beauty and appreciation of life and the desires that become awakened once our heart becomes captivated by something beautiful.

But as was said, we have to be careful with the objects of our affection and the desire to possess. Because really, we own nothing here. We have to give it all back at some point. In this way I often say, “do you own it or does it own you?” – or “do you have those ideas or do those ideas have you?”

Venus entered Gemini on July 26 and will be there until August 20. The transit of Venus through Gemini is powerful. This is quite a strong sign for Venus to occupy – an Air sign – probably the best element for Venus. Air is related to freedom and movement and as was said, the less we try to possess the objects of our affection, the better.

Air is the sign of intelligence and ideas. When planets occupy air signs, they activate our intelligence. We try to figure them out intellectually – rather than become attached to them emotionally (water) – possess them (Earth) or act upon them (fire).

We have to be playful, light and intelligent in order to navigate the minefield of our desires and not have them own us. Few things in life feel worse than to be objectified through possessiveness and jealousy. We have all felt this and done this to others.

Between now and August 20 is a good time to ponder the nature of desires and the cycle of attachment based on the desire to possess. Gemini is the sign of intelligence, inquiry, playfulness and flexibility. This is a time to consider all forms of beauty, including things that might at first seem repulsive – including ideas. This is also a time for new romances, flirtations and attractions.

Ask yourself these questions:

1. What pleasures am I afraid of losing?
2. How much energy do I spend trying to be happy?
3. Who is the “experiencer of pleasure” in me?
4. What (if anything) is beyond life’s “momentary pleasures” – or is this all there is?
5. What is the most beautiful thing in life and how has it changed me?

Horoscopes Astrology – Solar Eclipse 7/21/2009

Listen to a 60 minute discussion on the eclipse and the next 6 months for each of the 12 zodiac signs on my radio show – Thursday, July 23 at 7PM Pacific
http://blogtalkradio.com/stellar

Today’s solar eclipse is the longest of this century.

It exists along the Cancer/Capricorn axis. This axis is of rational, practical means and measures, which provide structure and boundaries (Capricorn) – opposed by irrational sensitivity and selfless love which dissolves boundaries (Cancer). Like all astrological phenomena, this axis is rich in many ways.

Cancer is ruled by the Moon, the part of us that just wants to feel good, and unless we feel good we cannot do any good. The moon is the archetype of feminine energy, the capacity and power to receive and the connections we form based on what we receive. The the Moon is like an opening that takes things in and tries to integrate them into our consciousness. We suffer in life because we are not flowing with our true nature. That sense of separateness hurts. The moon is the part that senses we are one and wants to dissolve boundaries that separate us from each other and from our higher Self.

The Moon is the opening through which life enters us. It exists between the limitations of form through our worldly experience and body (ascendant) and the universal, infinite Self (the Sun). The Moon is the part of us that tries to somehow bridge these two completely opposite planes of existence – the limited body and experiences and the universal Self. Our feelings keep us sensitive to what we are doing, trying to connect to things that take us closer to the Self, and bring about growth.

In the highest sense we feel the Moon as the innocent perceptive awareness in the moment. We are all trying to be open to everything – we want to receive everything, without fear or judgment. but it is hard. Life hurts us through the limitations of ego. We feel that hurt through the Moon. We remember other hurts and want to avoid future pain, so the ego builds protective structures (Saturn) and defends this fortress (Mars) and a separate identity forms around these habits – likes and dislikes – histories, etc. Feeling connected through our separate identity comes from the moon. Trying to dissolve it also comes from the Moon.

As for this eclipse,.. The Sun is being eclipsed by the South node in Cancer. The Sun shows innate confidence and power. Ketu is where we have experience that we trust, often blindly. It creates blind spots in us. Cancer is where we are trying to dissolve boundaries, and simply “trust our feelings” (and may act upon that) no matter what.

A need to dig deeply into “trusting your feelings” and “following your heart” is a large theme in this eclipse. We tend to rationalize things based on our feelings, no matter how nonsensical or impractical the thing may be. We often call that “intuition”, but much of the time it is not intuition, it is the emotions. Intuition is something deep and silent and not thought about or pondered. It is a deep knowing, without doubt or need for explanation. The emotions are generated based on our preferences, worries, fears and other things.

Look deeply into the nature of how you may base life decisions on how you feel at the exclusion of all other things, especially if there is the hope of connection to people you like, etc. – rather than doing what is actually best for you.

For example, in our career. If we base our career actions solely on how we may feel in the moment or about a person, etc. We will not get very far. feeling good about what we are doing is not the most important thing in life. Much of the time we are not going to feel good. But once we accept this we are actually able to feel good in most situations because the longing to be happy (rather than accept what is) dies down.

As was said, Cancer exists opposite Capricorn, the sign where we want to do what is best in the long term, regardless of how we feel about it in the moment. It is rational and calculating.

Does this resonate with you?

Everyone should try to meditate and connect to the deeper source this evening and really watch your thoughts and mind from 5-11 PM Pacific time. Put out your greatest wishes for your life and humanity. Eclipses are very powerful and not “bad”. They are times when the body (Earth), mind (Moon) and Soul (Sun) are aligned.

What to Know about Learning Tarot

Who can one learn tarot from? Some turn to online courses, others to independent tarot teachers, while books and other materials come next on preference lists. Debates do exist about these learning methods; you could memorize the meaning of the cards, identify it in context or understand it by smart associations. Choose the deck carefully if you want to learn tarot the easy way. Pick only those cards with suggestive illustrations so as to process the complex combinations and understand the steps.

The design of the cards is incredibly relevant in relation to the learner’s ability to grasp something from the card context. Vivid colors, clear representations and anything logical in the realm of the visual facilitate the learning process; you’ll get the full picture out of the graphics and the card design as well. This is actually the great secret behind the easy ways to learn tarot; there are dozens of methods and each can be matched to correspond to personal interests. Thus, the Rider Waite Tarot deserves in many users’ opinion the title of the best illustrated decks for beginner and advanced purposes.

Join a tarot course if you want to learn tarot in an organized well-structured manner. You can even find free materials providing the tools and meanings necessary for card layout interpretations. Some things are being the reach of an uninitiate, and if you don’t have the ounce of talent necessary you may never learn tarot well. The characters, the symbols and the events thus vary immensely from one reader to another. Hence, counseling and competence in further tarot reading are only the merit of some very skilled people.

Every teacher will tell you his/her tricks during the classes, but in time you’ll see how many secrets remain untold. Thus, you can come to identify and remember the meanings of only thirty-nine of the fifty-six possible interpretations. In fact, knowing and remembering the meaning of every card still represents the very tarot learning basis, and you can often refer to web pages, guides and books to study the way you did in the school days. Shortcuts are waiting for you to discover them, and sometimes you don’t know how well the tarot skills are getting built. Good luck!
