Venus has just entered Gemini. This is a good thing.

Venus is the force in life that make things enjoyable. Venus gives us appreciation of beauty in the natural world, in each other and in life itself. We want to feel captivated by the beauty of life, and when we don’t feel connected to beauty, we suffer.

Enjoying this beauty is a tricky thing because of one simple, yet profound concept: possessiveness.

Because we forget who the real owner is of everything here, the limited Self tries to possess something beautiful for itself – then the trouble starts. On a deeper soul level, this entire creation is ours and in fact is us. But on that soul level there is no possession, just sharing and an inner appreciation that turns to love (for our beloved) and devotion (to all of creation). Once we feel this love and devotion we willingly compromise our individual/ego desires in order to please the object of our appreciation and love.

This miraculous transformation of our selfish drives to our deeper, unselfish nature is driven by Venus. The engine of that transformation is the beauty and appreciation of life and the desires that become awakened once our heart becomes captivated by something beautiful.

But as was said, we have to be careful with the objects of our affection and the desire to possess. Because really, we own nothing here. We have to give it all back at some point. In this way I often say, “do you own it or does it own you?” – or “do you have those ideas or do those ideas have you?”

Venus entered Gemini on July 26 and will be there until August 20. The transit of Venus through Gemini is powerful. This is quite a strong sign for Venus to occupy – an Air sign – probably the best element for Venus. Air is related to freedom and movement and as was said, the less we try to possess the objects of our affection, the better.

Air is the sign of intelligence and ideas. When planets occupy air signs, they activate our intelligence. We try to figure them out intellectually – rather than become attached to them emotionally (water) – possess them (Earth) or act upon them (fire).

We have to be playful, light and intelligent in order to navigate the minefield of our desires and not have them own us. Few things in life feel worse than to be objectified through possessiveness and jealousy. We have all felt this and done this to others.

Between now and August 20 is a good time to ponder the nature of desires and the cycle of attachment based on the desire to possess. Gemini is the sign of intelligence, inquiry, playfulness and flexibility. This is a time to consider all forms of beauty, including things that might at first seem repulsive – including ideas. This is also a time for new romances, flirtations and attractions.

Ask yourself these questions:

1. What pleasures am I afraid of losing?
2. How much energy do I spend trying to be happy?
3. Who is the “experiencer of pleasure” in me?
4. What (if anything) is beyond life’s “momentary pleasures” – or is this all there is?
5. What is the most beautiful thing in life and how has it changed me?

  1. As always love to read your analysis .

Put it this way I understand more , more I read your analysis.

    Thanks

  2. Shows a profound understanding of the integral relationship between the transient and eternal states of Being. Sadashiva’s astrological insight comes from a deep understanding and connection with that Eternal part of Being. The intuition that arises when there is no longer attachment to to mind stuff , and where the deep eternal Silence , Light , Love , is what is heard and reflected without selfish desires and attachments. A mark of a True Jyotihi is the presence of his/her Sadhana in his/her interpretations. Knowledge is useless without the understanding, insight and intuition that arises from the Real Eternal Being. – SATCHITANANDA
Keep up the good work and may you continue to recieve an abundance of Grace.
    Aum shanti shanti shanti.

  3. Since I have an exalted Venus and also have Gemini rising lagna this must be a very good time period for me. Your explanations are so deep & succint. Really appreciate the BEAUTY of your Vedic interpretations of astrology. I have a keen appreciation for gemstones & jewellry. I used to sell fine jewellry and now I collect colored gemstone jewellry-emeralds,sapphires,diamonds,etc. I have an eye flawless green tourmaline pendant from the esteemed Jay Boyle of Vedic quality of almost 5 carats that I usually wear everyday. Emeralds are the primary Vedic gemstone remedy but since emeralds are inherently Flawed, the secondary stone is the tourmaline according to Jay.
To get back on track, the last question I think the most beautiful thing in my life is my Guru. He entered my life when I was a young girl and he still watches over me and my life. I have Jupiter in the 1st house with Ketu–so maybe this explains why I could find a true guru at such a young age? Ketu is the planet of liberation, moksha I believe. A close tie for me of the most beautiful thing is the idea of Knowledge. Being very mercurial I highly value learning something new everyday–a keen thirst for knowledge on many levels..but I am very intellectual. I feel being strong Air that I need to be healed on the emotional level–since I now discover I need emotional healing and 3rd chakra healing..so heart & 3rd chakra healing. Lora

  5. Wow, almost to the moment this Venus transit into Gemini began my husband and I have been seriously affected. It has clearly been the hardest patch of dissagreements, strife, coldness, you name it. This has been a 12 year marriage and never really bad, even raising 5 kids!… He is Libra, Leo rising, myself Gemini Virgo rising, I hope the dust settles as we work together everyday as well as having a major horse show coming up where nothing but pure selfless cooperation is the order of the day. Thank goodness the show runs the 28- 30 of August. After this period.
    Anyone else feeling ill effects?
