I want to thank my friend Robin Ferrier for a great bit of detecive work. She discoved that the eclipse referred to that started the reign of terror was likely seen over Paris at the same time.

    no — i have not had time to do this yet. Just in general one would have to worry about these Olympics with the eclipse including China.
