The Dance of Mars and Venus Continues

Mars and Venus have been dancing together for several months now. They have gone to several different locations in hopes of resolving their differences.

- From April 14-May 22 they were back and forth between the Ashram and Opium den in Pisces, dancing to the sublime rhythms and melodies of Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faune”.

- From May 23-June 29 they are jumping out of airplanes and having sex on the subway in Aries, doing a slinky pole dance to the sounds of Van Halen’s “Panama” (You’ve been there, admit it).

- From June 30 – July 26 they will be in the Kitchen/Log Cabin environment of Taurus, watching American Idol and dancing to “The Waltz of the Flowers” from the Nutcracker/

::: Sidereal Zodiac Used :::

Venus and Mars activate completely opposite forces in us. Mars is the force of independence and autonomy within us – Venus is the force of compromise and accommodation within (stated simply).

Mars is the energy and force behind our actions - our self-will. Venus is the energy that tries to accommodate others and their needs. That part of us that wants to act with autonomy and get to where we are going as fast as possible – or else there better be a good reason why – at which time Mars will destroy the obstacle – destroy the thing that is in our way. We are always present in our actions – they are vital, clear and unambiguous.

Imagine you have to go to the bathroom. You get up and start walking. Suddenly someone blocks your way, inhibiting your progress by appearing to mimic your path. As you move to the right, they do the same thing.. over and over again. How will you feel? Immediately you will feel Mars energy welling up in you. You will demand an explanation, and it better be good. If the person persists blocking you this way, there will be a conflict.

The energy that is compelling you forward is Mars. A powerful Mars gives us the courage and confidence to advance on our path, and deal with the obstacles along the way. A weak Mars may lack the vitality to act, lack the courage to remove the obstacles and/or lack the discipline to stay on course. We are only DOING one thing at a time. Our actions are simple – black and white. The simple, yet vital beauty in our actions is Mars. But this simplistic mind is also the mind of a killer in each of us, as is also the nature of Mars. Underneath it all, he is a protective planet.

The simplistic black and white nature of the mind and our actions is the same instinct that will protect your life by a fight to the death if necessary. If you are suddenly attacked, you will not sit and think about what to do or why isihappening, instinctively you will fight. At this time the adrenal glands fire, numbing you to any physical pain you are enduring or causing in another – to protect your life. When un-evolved, and seen through our ego, this “fight to the death instinct” is brought to bear against the shadow threats of our ego-world – protecting the status quo.

Venus is just the opposite of Mars. In the same example of being blocked from the bathroom by someone – Venus will try to accommodate the situation. We are not just reactionary animals, and when we are we bring a lot of suffering to ourselves by the negative feedback we get from others. Being unliked and scorned by others is a great teacher. It teaches us patience, accommodation and how to value others wishes as much as we value our own.

There may be a good reason why we are frustrated and if we are patient and connected to our heart and the heart of others we will wait before reacting. For example, in the story above, in our haste and anger we may not have noticed that the person appearing to block our path is blind – or perhaps mentally imparied and does not know better. If we have this information to begin with we would have exercised more patience, but life does not always work like that – moments are hot with the urgency of life. Experience teaches us to be more patient In dealing with others. Yet there are pitfalls with Venus also. We may be too accommodating and allow others to keep us from getting to where we want to go.

For example, maybe the person preventing us from this call of nature was not blind, just a jokester of some sort, testing our will. How long will we allow ourselves to be prevented form going to the bathroom? Until our bladder bursts? Probably not. Situations that involve the body demand attention. But what about other situations, like relationships for example. We may let ourselves get walked all over for years and years before we stick up for ourselves. Of course, they will claim to be a victim, but in fact it is they who are giving away their power to another and lacking courage to clarify a healthy boundary.

Tricky stuff here.

Venus and Mars have been dancing together since Mid-April – bringing a kind of constant “approach/avoidance” conflict since then. First they were in Pisces, (cue the Debussy) a sign where Venus is exalted and Mars is willing to serve a more inspired than asserting our individuality. From Mid-April until the end of May we were much more willing to look higher than satisfying our personal desires or fighting for the things we want to have or change in life. That time was great for taking classes, being inspired and looking to the future – especially as it relates to things that are Spiritual and metaphysical in nature. That is the nature of Pisces. Ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion, Pisces is a sign where and inner expansion is sought and a mystical communion with the source is felt.

Since the end of May, Mars and Venus have been in Aries, (fire up the “Halen”) a sign ruled by Mars. This is a big change from the Mars/Venus conjunction in Pisces. Aries is a sign of instinctive action – where we trust our gut and make a move, without questioning why or how. It is impulsive, impatient, excited and quick to act for the sake of acting – especially if those actions make us feel more powerful. This nature takes us away from certain things, like considering the impact our actions have on others (like relationship partners). We have been very susceptible to rebelling against partners since that time.

Venus is about to leave Aries and enter Taurus, (Ready for a cup of “Tchai”kovsky) a sign ruled by Venus herself. Taurus is a fixed Earth sign, interested in stabilizing energy, beauty and form. The impulsiveness and dynamism of Aries (perhaps the most unpredictable of the Signs) gives way to Taurus (perhaps the most predictable and solid of the Signs). As was said, for the last several weeks Venus has been in Aries after having been exalted since the end of January. We have felt quite a difference in our willingness to compromise during that time. This is especially true considering during that time Venus was joined Mars in Aries. Mars is especially stronger than Venus here, as he is the ruler of Mars.

Needless to say, our powers of compromise have been greatly *compromised* since the end of May. There have been numerous battles on all fronts talking place.

Starting on June 30, Venus will be in favorable signs for the next couple of months. On July 3, Mars will join Venus in Taurus, adding more aggression to her passage here, but at least Mars and Venus will be in this more peaceful section of the sky then.

Between June 30 and July 26 There will be a lot more capacity to come together in our relationships, after this last month of contentiousness. This will especially be the case after July 14 when the Sun enters sidereal cancer, a sign of activating emotional connections between people.

The desire to make some solid plans will be strong during this time. But guess what, next month with Venus is Gemini, then Mars there, the plans will get tested and probably dissolved. Woo-hoo!

My debilitated Mars and ruling planet Venus have been in my 12th house of Loss. How has this manifested? I’m still in limbo with the divorce and the fact that “hubby” still won’t move out of the house, at least not until he finds another place to live. Getting desperate to sell so I can pay off creditors. Looking for 800-pound-gorilla real estate investor who can make a good enough offer with a down payment that will give him enough money to move, AND who has a lower-end property that soon-to-be-ex can move into right away. To find such a buyer, I sent out an all-points bulletin to every network I know.

    Yes,
there are some strange days indeed as these energies shift.
