Essentially, the Astrological chart is a portrait of the pattern of our karma. Astrology shows the history of our soul: its progress so far.

When we remember our true nature, joined to the Cosmic Sun, we illumine everything around us. When we forget our true nature, and seek to be illumined from without, we suffer in darkness. 

As a rajasic planet Mercury also has the tendency to seek over stimulation through the senses and be unfocused. 

  Whereas Rahu casts a shadow over the Moon (the mind) and it’s perceptions through a hypnotic addiction to substance, Ketu obliterates the substance and focuses on the essence around things. Imagine a solar eclipse with the body of the Sun negated and just the corona visible. 

As an occult Science, Astrology reigns supreme. However, given that it is based on distant objects rather than our hand, (palmistry) colorful cards (Tarot) or numbers, (numerology) its effects are harder to cognize.

  We only defend ourselves and argue when afraid, be it of physical challenges or the opinions of others. Mars gives us the courage to confront our fears so as to free our soul from bondage and ignorance.
