The Nakshatra Dhanishta is number 23. It falls between 23:20 Capricorn - 6:40 Aquarius. Dhanishta is ruled by Mars. It's symbol is mridanga (drum) and the Deity is Vasus - gods of Light and Abundance. The name "Dhanishta" means very rich - very swift . It is related to Tamas - motivated to remove difficulties or avoid trouble.. Dhanishta people are Shudra - the servant class, mainly concerned with the pursuit of dharma - right action and duty.

The temperament of Dhanishta is Rakshasa - demon | eccentric and individualistic and its sex is Female. Each Nakshatra has a special power or Shakti, the power of Dhanishta allows for giving abundance and fame. Its heavenly basis emanantes for birth, which results in prosperity, through which people are brought together.

Elementally, and through Ayurveda (the medical System of India), Dhanishta is related to Kapha - (water) stability. It's nature is to be fixed in a balanced way. It is closely associated with dissolution - Shiva and will generally be found in jeeva - living beings. Dhanishta is facing South.
