Our bodies run on the same 24
hour cycle as the Earth. Every morning the Earth turns to face
the Sun’s life giving energy.
The lines and mounts of
palmistry are planetary – the cards in a tarot deck mirror
planets in signs and other Astrological archetypes and
numerology is also based on unique planetary energetics.
Like a nightmare wakes us from sleep, our life struggles
are
wake up calls that force us to look for deeper meaning.
Little wonder that when an Astrologer starts to speak
about Astrological “Science,” most scratch their heads in
disbelief.
It is hard for many to accept that Astrology
evolved into a profound Science that not only includes mundane
issues like seasons and earthly cycles, but also one that
encompasses a deep understanding of the energetic behind all of
creation.
The Sun energizes us as well as
all creatures that receive its light and warmth.
Of
the 3 main Vedic Sciences, Vedic Astrology is probably the most
misunderstood, especially here in the West, where many regard
Astrology as superstition and foolishness.
Reclaiming
this lost spiritual heritage is central to our survival as a
species. Astrology is an example of this deeper connection to
truth and a large part of reclaiming our spiritual roots.
Soon,
auspicious times for every event as well as the deeper
motivating forces behind the universe were to be understood by
studying the rhythm of Planetary movements and our relationship
to them.
Just because I can turn on my computer
or drive a car does not mean I understand how it works. If
Buddha were to appear today he would be clueless as to how to
operate a Palm pilot or a spreadsheet program. That does not
make me more intelligent or better able to understand the world
than Buddha.
That is why we make the
same mistakes over and over again. An Astrologer can identify
the samsaras that drag us deeper into Tamas (darkness) and
recommend those that will keep us focused on Sattwa.
(knowledge)
This is
understandable as most Americans encounter Astrology through
the daily horoscope or some other equally fluffy and trivial
medium.

We are in fact star stuff, refined in a
sentient form, conscious and miraculous. We are children of the
stars.
Our blood flow, circadian rhythms and natural body clock is
timed accordingly. Whether we remember it or not, our brains
are wired for waking in the light and sleeping when darkness
falls.
Putting all feelings about Astrology aside
however, who among us has not at one time or another gazed up
at the night sky and not been moved by the mysterious, awesome,
yet familiar nature of the universe.
A “Day’ is not just an arbitrary measurement of time based on
our work and sleeping schedule, it is the time it takes our
Planet to rotate once on its axis.
Through
Astrology we gain insight into our deep-seated mental patterns
and the karmas they cause. These patterns (samsaras) show the
lessons our soul is trying to learn.
